Activities

BRIGHT MINDS – AI Summer Camp engages students through a rich variety of activities, including hands-on workshops, creative digital projects, expert-led webinars, team challenges, quizzes, and interactive discussions. Each activity is designed to build STEM skills, foster international collaboration, and make learning about AI and technology both fun and meaningful.

Week 1 - Launch into AI & Digital World

The camp begins with a warm welcome as students from different countries introduce themselves, their schools, and cultures through interactive icebreakers, avatar creation, and an engaging world map activity. They reflect on their initial understanding of Artificial Intelligence and microchips using a collaborative Padlet brainstorm. A creative workshop titled "AI in My Life" encourages students to express how AI already plays a role in their everyday experiences by designing comics or posters using tools like Pixton or Canva. The week builds a strong foundation for collaboration, setting the tone for exploration, creativity, and global connection.

Week 2 - Building the Future with AI

This week challenges students to become creators, not just learners, of AI technology. They explore AI tools like Teachable Machine and ChatGPT, gaining hands-on experience with how machines learn and respond. Students form international teams to tackle real-world problems—choosing themes such as environmental protection, health, education, or cybersecurity—and develop digital pitches using posters, videos, or presentations. A key highlight is a special webinar featuring four cybersecurity researchers from the University of Piraeus Research Center, who will share their expertise in AI applications and future research directions. This week blends imagination with purpose, showing students how AI can be a tool for social good.

Week 3 - Exploring the Chips Behind Technology

In Week 3, students dig deeper into the hardware that powers today’s digital tools—microchips and circuits. They begin with a mini-lesson and trivia quiz to understand where microchips are found and how they work. A photo scavenger hunt encourages them to identify smart devices in their environment, while a team-based challenge pushes them to conceptualize and design their own smart device using digital tools like Canva or Genially. The week culminates with a webinar from the European Chips Skills Academy, where students learn directly from industry professionals about how chips are developed and how they influence everything from AI to everyday tech. It’s a week of discovery and hands-on innovation.

Week 4 - Celebrating Our AI Visions

The final week is all about showcasing, reflecting, and celebrating. Students present their completed AI projects in a virtual expo, participate in peer voting using creative emoji-based feedback, and contribute to the collaborative eMagazine "Innovators of Tomorrow: Our AI Summer." The excitement builds as they attend a virtual closing ceremony, receive digital certificates, and complete final surveys reflecting on their journey. This week not only wraps up the learning experience but also honors the creativity, teamwork, and cross-cultural friendships built throughout the camp. It’s a proud moment where students see themselves as young innovators ready to take on the future.
